On iPhone, open the recipe page or public post, tap its Share control, and choose your recipe app from the row of destinations. The Share Sheet passes an item—often a URL or selected text—to another app. It does not guarantee that the receiving app can access a private post or reconstruct information the source never contained.
The normal recipe handoff
- Open the full recipe page, public video, or useful text.
- Tap Share in the current app.
- Select Mise or another recipe destination.
- Confirm that the shared item is the expected URL or text.
- Review the imported ingredients and steps against the source.
Apple describes Share Sheet actions as app extensions. The sheet is assembled from the content being shared, installed apps, and actions those apps declare they can handle. That is why its contents can differ between Safari, Instagram, Photos, and a selected text menu.
If your recipe app is not visible
Scroll to the end of the app row and open More. If the destination appears there, enable or favor it according to the controls offered by your iOS version. If it does not appear:
- make sure the app is installed and has been opened at least once;
- confirm you are sharing a supported kind of item rather than a downloaded video file or private object;
- copy the public URL and paste it inside the recipe app;
- for written content, select only the recipe-bearing text and share that selection.
Restarting the source app can clear a temporary extension problem, but repeated failure with one type of content usually means the sender and receiver do not share a supported format.
What are you actually sharing?
The same-looking button may send different data:

Never assume the destination received everything visible on screen. A caption, audio track, linked page, and comments may be separate sources.
A recipe-specific review after sharing
The Share Sheet completes the transport, not the recipe. Check:
- Does the saved item link back to the right creator or publication?
- Are servings and units present?
- Are every ingredient and every used ingredient aligned?
- Did steps remain in order?
- Are temperatures and times source-backed?
- Is any missing information explicitly marked?
Mise accepts supported public links, recipe pages, and selected text through compatible share flows. It creates an editable result and retains the original source. A private, deleted, region-restricted, or incomplete source can still fail.
When copying the URL is better
Copy and paste the URL when the Share Sheet is crowded, the extension fails, or you want to inspect the exact link first. This is not an inferior workflow: it is often easier to troubleshoot because you can see whether the URL is a canonical page, tracking redirect, shortened link, or private-session address.
If a copied link opens only while you are signed in, treat it as fragile. Look for the creator’s public recipe page or save a permitted personal note with clear attribution.
