Choose Mise if your main problem is turning supported public social videos, links, recipe pages, and selected text into a reviewable recipe and then following it in Cook Mode. Choose Paprika if your system needs established web-recipe management, categories, grocery lists, pantry, meal planning, and multiple platform editions.
Evidence and update note
This comparison was prepared on 2026-08-03. Mise behavior was reviewed in the current app source and tests. Paprika 3.8.5’s US listing and official iOS guide were reviewed; live Paprika testing and screenshots were deferred. Paprika statements are therefore published capabilities, not observed performance.
The scope difference
| Question | Mise | Paprika 3 documented behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Primary capture | Supported public social/video links, recipe pages, selected text | Built-in browser, website download, manual and file import |

| Organization | Searchable recipe library | Categories, search, favorites and broader management |
| Cooking | Cook Mode with saved progress | Cooking controls, screen behavior, timers and step interaction in guide |
| Serving change | Displayed ingredient adjustment | Ingredient scaling documented |
| Grocery list | Not a verified Mise feature | Documented |
| Pantry | Not a verified Mise feature | Documented |
| Meal planning | Not a verified Mise feature | Documented |
| Platforms | Current product is iPhone/iPad-oriented; recheck release | iOS plus separately offered Mac, Android, and Windows editions per vendor |
Choose Mise when focus is the benefit
Mise has a shorter product story: save a supported source, review the extracted ingredients and steps, keep the source, find the recipe later, and cook through it. Saved cooking progress matters when a phone workflow is interrupted.
That narrower scope is a drawback if shopping, pantry, or weekly planning belongs in the same app.
Choose Paprika when the surrounding system matters
Paprika’s documented feature set is stronger for people who already think in meal calendars, pantry inventory, and grocery lists. Its built-in browser and website-download workflow fit a collection dominated by recipe sites.
Someone who primarily saves short social videos should test how their exact sources enter Paprika rather than assuming that website-import maturity equals social-video extraction.
Price and platform caution
Paprika’s US iOS download was listed at $4.99 on the review date. Other platforms are separate products, and future Paprika versions or pricing may change. Mise’s public release terms must be rechecked when the page is approved. Do not compare a one-time storefront price with an unverified subscription offer.
Bottom line
Pick Mise for a focused social/source-to-cooking loop. Pick Paprika for a broader recipe-planning and grocery system. If uncertain, test one representative website recipe and one representative social recipe, then cook the same dish in each before migrating anything substantial.
Try the workflow
Keep the source. Review the recipe. Cook from your version.
