For public Instagram recipes, test Mise and ReciMe first if you want the post converted into editable ingredients and steps. Drop Recipe, CookClip, and Kuskus also publish Instagram-saving workflows and belong on the test list. Do not choose by “supports Instagram” alone: source retention and missing-detail behavior matter more than a successful-looking card.
Evidence boundary
This shortlist was researched on 2026-08-03 from current official materials. Mise’s behavior was checked in local product source; the competitor apps have not yet completed the same-post physical-iPhone test. Their sections describe vendor-published capabilities, not independent runtime findings.
Shortlist by workflow
Mise — review and cook after capture
Mise accepts supported public Instagram links, creates reviewable ingredients and steps, retains the original post, and moves the saved recipe into a searchable library and Cook Mode.
It is a focused choice when the job ends at cooking. Private, deleted, restricted, or information-poor posts may fail or remain incomplete.
ReciMe — social capture inside a broader planning system
ReciMe publishes Instagram import alongside meal planning and shopping. It may suit someone who wants those adjacent workflows in the same app. Confirm current free-import limits, source visibility, export, and generated-detail labeling in the live build.
Drop Recipe — an iPhone-first saving proposition
Drop Recipe describes using the iOS Share Sheet for social posts and device/iCloud-oriented storage. Test whether its organization and cooking experience match your collection size, and verify current privacy and backup behavior.
CookClip — broad capture plus planning features
CookClip publishes Instagram, video, website, photo, and note capture alongside collections, meal planning, and grocery tools. Broad scope is useful only if the exact post produces a traceable, editable result.
Kuskus — multi-source, all-in-one positioning
Kuskus advertises Instagram, TikTok, website capture, cookbooks, planning, and groceries. Test unsupported sources and export before relying on “anywhere” language.
The one-post test
Use a public post you have permission to process that contains:
- a linked full recipe;
- caption quantities;
- one narration-only instruction;
- one visible ingredient not named in the caption.
For each app, record:
- share/copy path;
- source retained and accessible;
- linked page detected or ignored;
- quantities and units transferred correctly;
- narration-only and visible-only details labeled or invented;
- ability to edit and search;
- behavior when the post becomes unavailable;
- account, privacy, export, and paywall friction.
Instagram Saved remains the better answer when you only want to revisit a post. A recipe app earns its place when it makes a post more reviewable and cookable without erasing where it came from.
Try the workflow
Keep the source. Review the recipe. Cook from your version.
